It was exhilarating to finally get the boat back in the water and out of the boatyard. The Yanmar diesel, at idle, takes the boat through the water at 5 or 6 knots.
The only challenge through the locks was paying attention to the wind and currents. The boat is so light that it is easily thrown about.
I can't wait to sail her again. The last time was several months ago under the Golden Gate Bridge. We were sailing at 6 knots in 7.5 knots of wind.
The boat really performs like a big dinghy. It takes very little wind to make it move, which makes it perfect for Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.
